Disneyland

We will post more pictures, but here are a couple. Cady really enjoyed her first trip to Disneyland! Thank you, Tita Cionie for the tickets. We enjoyed seeing you!

We also went through the old neighborhood, the house looks great! We are so glad to have a property manager that does a good job. That, coupled with great neighbors who keep an eye on the house, makes landlord ing much less of a headache.

We head home tomorrow, and Cady will start in her new classroom Monday. She asked us to put her on the potty four times this weekend! She is getting so, so big!

We picked up our new box today. Cady dug right in. That is bok choy she's eating. Daikon radish soup tomorrow evening!

Leeks are Goooood!

We had some more veggies from our CSA box tonight. Cady had fun helping in the kitchen. We made a Carmelites leek and bleu cheese flatbread. It was excellent, we will absolutely have that again!

Cady is on antibiotics again for another ear infection. Luckily, this one isn't too bad. Her stomach bug is gone, too. Here's hoping she gets and stays healthy after this round of antibiotics. We will probably need to take her in for a blood test to see about her allergies. Hopefully we won't need to, we'll see.

A Day at the Beach

We took Cady to the beach on Saturday. We all had so much fun. Cady loved playing in the sand and picking up shells and rocks. It was a beautiful day, we will be back soon!

CSA and Catching Up

CSA stands for Community Supported Agriculture, you should see if you have a CSA in your area. We just got our first box of produce from ours. Since we're right here in the middle of some of the world's best farmland, and since I'm working with the agriculture industry now, we have decided to take advantage of it and support it. We will get a box of produce every two weeks, like the one below. The majority of it is organic, and all of it is grown locally. This week's box included Guajillo chilis, organic baby cauliflower, organic celery, organic golden beets, organic grapefruit, organic cabbage, organic romaine, organic tangelos and organic chard.

That brings us to chard, red chard, specifically. No one in this house has had it until tonight. And, until tonight, I had never used puff pastry, nor had I ever handled chard. I sautéed the chard in balsamic vinegar, olive oil, garlic and black pepper. Then I put it in puff pastry with some feta cheese. It was very, very tasty. We will definitely have it again sometime.

Cady is doing well, we love her new doctor. She is over her bout with pnumonia, thankfully. She's back to sleeping through the night, too. We think her issues are of all things...allergy related. She is taking an allergy/asthma medicine, and is on a breathing treatment twice daily. She is having a good time and learning a lot. We are starting to potty train, feel free to share your tips!

We just booked a trip to Alabama and Ohio, we are looking forward to seeing everyone this summer.

Pumpkin Fun

We went to the pumpkin patch last night to get a pumpkin for Halloween. Cady had so much fun running around and picking out pumpkins.

Catching up again...

Yesterday, Cady went in for surgery. She had her adenoids out and tubes put in her ears. We hope this will help alleviate the constant ear infections.

In other news, I finally broke down and got an iPad, so now there is no excuse for me not to keep up with the blog! I just need to figure out how to post pictures.

Catching Everyone Up...

Since the last time we posted: we've closed on our condo, had a visit from GG and Grandpop, moved all of our stuff up to the new place, signed a contract with a property manager to manage the house in Southern California, found a tenant for that house, and been back to the doctor for ear infections twice.

We're on another round of antibiotics and have an appointment to meet with an ENT next week. We're hoping he can recommend something to stop these ear infections. Most likely, it will mean tubes. We'll keep you posted.

Here's Cady in the midst of unpacking. Luckily, she thought all the boxes and paper were a lot of fun. That worked out well because there were A LOT of boxes, and A LOT of paper. We're taking it all to the recycler. We're there so often bringing loads of cardboard and paper, the recycling guy recognized Dan at In-N-Out when we were there for a burger.

Here's Cady putting money into her piggy bank, which she LOVES to do. She likes the sound the coins make when they drop into her pig.

This is Cady's new room. It turned out almost like we had planned. I was hoping for a white canvas slipcover, but for the sake of just getting it done, I got this one at Target. It's functional, but not ideal. Maybe when we get around to painting the dresser, we'll get around to the slip cover as well. It beats that ugly fabric on the couch though! If you come to visit us, this is where you'll stay. It pulls out to the most comfortable sofa bed we've ever felt!

Fun at the Park

We took Cady to the park today, the weather was beautiful, and she had such a good time (so did we)! She loved the swing, and going down the slide with her dad. We'll be going back often, especially since it looks like we'll be getting our condo.

15 Months & a Visit from Uncle Ron & Cousin Jake

Cady celebrated her 15-month b-day with her Uncle Ron and cousin Jake. We spent Saturday at the Monterey Bay Aquarium, doing the 17-Mile Drive, and walking around Carmel.

Here we are by the lone cypress.

Here's Cady, enjoying the view of the Pacific along the 17-Mile Drive with her little dog.
Having fun at the aquarium, at entrance to the very cool, new "Open Sea" exhibit.

Cousin Jake showing Cady some fish.

Uncle Ron and Jake taking Cady through one of the exhibits at the aquarium.

We had such a great time, and hope we get to see you all again soon!

Happy 4th of July

We spent this morning and afternoon in downtown Morgan Hill for the annual 4th of July Parade. The town has been doing the parade since 1896, and it's always so much fun. It's the kind of thing you see in movies, the textbook, small-town, 4th of July parade. Cady really enjoyed watching the people, horses and floats go by. You can see her watching and waving here.
Midway though the parade, she got a little tired. She actually sat through the whole parade. As "on-the-go" as she is right now, we were both shocked at that.

Here's the start of the parade with El Toro as the back drop. Lots of fun!

Independence Day BBQ Fun

We spent July 3rd at a BBQ in the country. Cady had a great time playing in the water and she really enjoyed the tri-tip. She's getting good use out of her new 1-year molars. Here she is running around the yard. She was on the go ALL day!
Here she is with Kenzie. This is the $1.00 chair we found at a yard sale earlier in the day. It was perfect. We'll take it to the parade tomorrow. And in case anyone is wondering, yes, we reapplied sunscreen 3 times.

These two had a blast at the end of the day, playing in the playpen. They would stand up, fall down, and laugh, over and over again.

Cady's new bag...

We picked up this little elephant rolling backback this weekend. She LOVES rolling it around. We put some books and her pink bird in it last night.

Very cute on a very ugly couch...

So, when we moved to the cottage on the Christmas tree farm, we didn't have any furniture. We had stayed at Mary Dean's place for a month, and then at the Residence Inn for a month, there was no need for furniture. Now, since the company is going to pay to move all of our stuff up, we figured it didn't make sense to go back to LA just to pick up a couch. We went to the Salvation Army instead. We don't think this couch was ever really used. It's in fantastic, like-new condition (new from 1980 something). It also has a hide-a-bed, which is great when we have visitors, since our cottage is only one bedroom. We also picked up a couple of dressers, one of which is really cool, probably from the 1950s. It will be getting a makeover later, and will go with us to the new house, probably in Cady's room. But enough about the ugly couch you're going to be seeing in the photos (we are looking for a slipcover).

Cady fell asleep on the couch last night and Chico jumped up about 5 minutes later to be by her. He likes her a lot when she's sleeping. He likes her a little, when she's awake. Sometimes, he doesn't like her at all and snarles at her. That's usually when she's coming at him full speed ahead with something that makes noise or poses some sort of physical threat to him. It's understandable since she's bigger than him now.

Cady at 1 Year & 1 Month

The 7th of another month has passed, Cady's officially 13 months old! Here she is on the 7th of June. We had just come back from looking at some more houses, just in case the one we're trying to get through the short sale process doesn't happen. Cady's done with her first ear infection, and is back to her normal, happy, active and talkative self. Her appetite is back too!

This is her tunnel & tent combo. She loves crawling through the tunnel and watching Chico go through the tunnel. We got this when Grandpop was still in town at an "End of the World" yard sale down the street. I also got a great pair of cowboy boots.

This is her new, really, really, big book of animals. She enjoys opening and closing it, and turning the big pages. She also likes the purple necklace you see in the book with her. She puts it on, takes it off and makes noise with it on the floor or the door.
